Churmuri and Rava Jamuns

The whole world is facing a situation making mankind learn a lot of lessons and become a little more wiser if this experience could.

Locking down has become a common lingo or word; someone like a friend around the town.

While for many this could mean a bit of tough situations to handle, but for the other side of human reality finds this time to enjoy and make the most of life.

If someone where to ask, what my take is on this experience, or what did I really learn as an individual in this course of time.

Following are some of the points:

  1. That life is very precious, and like Dalai Lama said, even if one feels a problem doesn't have a solution, there's no need to worry.
  2. There's always a different perspective to look at the same situation.
  3. Time needs to be like an alarm clock to pause and ponder.
  4. Like anyone thinks, we don't need so much of activity or running down to bring joy.
  5. Silence is the only way, to feel close with Nature and understand who you are, what's your purpose, your capabilities.
  6. Maybe once in a while a boundary is kept by Nature, to realize the 'ungrateful attitude' and negative emotions you have carried around despite.
  7. Being compassionate; is vital, to overcome any challenge.
  8. Never think that you are like some superhero. Because, situations like this, makes one feel you are nothing.
  9. Always use your discrimination.
  10. Try to do some good karma every day as life is designed to be unpredictable.
  11. Feel courageous but be humble, knowing that 'I am just one small being' in this Earth.
There is much more, and life is nothing but a journey...

For the day, I did have a really good time exploring and learning to make 'Churmuri Mixture' and 'Rava Jamuns'. I really never knew a mixture so tasty and simple with less ingredients could be made. And anyone fond of 'Jamuns'; would like the concept of using 'Rava/semolina' to bring in a sister version of 'Gulab Jamuns' - taste and looks are very similar I tell you.

If you need to try these, here are the recipes.

Churmuri Mixture

Ingredients:

Pori(it's named in Malayalam) - puffed rice,
a pinch of salt and chilli powder,
finely chopped tomato, big onions and coriander leaves,
a pinch of coconut oil,
some sev mixture,
and last a bit of lime juice.

Mix all this together and lightly dry roast it.
Last, add in a pinch of lime juice, mix.

Semolina Jamuns

Ingredients:

Rava, milk,
some milk powder
and a pinch of sugar.

First, take a little more milk than the amount of rava (semolina).
In a pan, boil the milk and add a pinch of sugar, milk powder to it.
Later, add the main ingredient - rava; and keep stirring, until it's a lump.
Add a bit of butter to create this as good mixture.
Let this cool down in a pan coated with butter.

Wait for some time.

Make small balls for frying it in a pan of hot oil.
There you go, jamuns are ready.
This can be had either with the combination of sugar syrup.
In my case, I had it with honey or dates syrup.

End of story.
